The second oral presentation is for my CG1413 project. For this project, my team chose the topic of raising oral healthcare awareness. In my opinion, I feel that the main purpose of this presentation is for us to reflect on the feedback given to us for our first oral presentation and improve our presentation skills.
Individual
For me, the area feedbacked to me was that I appeared unprepared for the first presentation. To improve on it, I did more preparation by preparing a script and also informing my teammates, so that they know when to switch slides. However, for this presentation, the cards I prepared were quite messy, which resulted in me getting nervous as there are times where I could not find the next point to touch on in my cue cards. In the end, I ended up not following what I had planned to speak in the later part of my presentation which caused my teammates to be quite confused on when to switch slides.
I should been more aware of my non-verbal communication as well. I attempted to maintain eye contact with the audience, but I was mainly looking at just one side of the room. This is one point that I have to take note for my future presentations.Team
As for the overall performance of the team, I feel that we should improve on our coordination as we often switch slides at the wrong time. To improve on it, we could have rehearsed more to gain a clearer picture of each other’s points. Time management is another area to improve on. For this presentation, we overshot the given time by quite a bit. To improve, we could have taken more effort in timing ourselves and take out points that were not that important.
To conclude, this presentation is a good experience for us and it is invaluable to us in preparing for future presentations. It allows us to find out what mistakes we tend to make so that we can improve on it and give better presentations. This is important as presentations is not something we can avoid if we were to start working, as we will have to use it to bring our ideas across to our superiors or potential business partners.
